Central Market, Secret Snowflake

Secret Snowflake and Hot Chocolate Fun!

On Friday, December 19 the Middle School Class was buzzing with excitement. It was the day when the final secret snowflake presents would be received, one’s secret snowflake would be revealed, and the room would be filled with the smell of hot chocolate.

For those who don’t know, secret snowflake is a tradition in the Middle School Class where gifts are secretly given to classmates. It starts at the beginning of the week when small gifts are given – finally on Friday one big gift is given and people guess their secret snowflake.

All this Friday giving and guessing happened after the class ventured into the streets of Lancaster city to go have lunch at market. When the students returned, they gathered in the purple room to open the secret snowflake presents and get hot chocolate from the hot chocolate bar. (Thank you to a group of parents for making this happen!) Names were drawn and one by one student went into the hall to get delicious hot chocolate, cookies, and toppings.
Once the hot chocolate was distributed, it was time for presents. The desks were moved into a circle and the presents were put next to the designated person. After much waiting the first person guessed and then opened their present. This continued until the floor was covered in wrapping paper, bows, and bags. Many students say that it was a fun and exciting activity and they can’t wait to do it next year!
